Eye Makeup Do’s and Don’ts for The Bride To Be

Here is one of the posts I wrote as a guest blogger recently.  The original post can be found here.

DO:  Choose an eye shadow colour that complements your own eye colour.  The easiest way to do this is to look at a colour wheel and locate your eye colour then trace across to find the most complimentary eye shadow colour for your eyes.   It’s true that opposites attract!

For example, green eyes pop when you use eye shadow colours with reds, mauves and pinks in them.
DON’T:  Forget to add an eye shadow primer such as Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion.  Adding a primer to your lid before you apply your shadow will help with shadow creasing and it will increase your eye shadow longevity.   You will also get more colour payoff using an eye shadow primer.
DO:  Watch the amount of frosted eye shadow you use on your wedding day.  Too much frosted shadow can make you look older and doesn’t always photograph very well.  Stick with matte shadows and add a little frost only on the lid and on the eyebrow bone.

DON’T:  Try and apply false lashes for the first time on your wedding day.  Applying false lashes is a skill and you need to practice applying them before your big day.   Tip:  Buy lashes in bulk and practice applying them on yourself weeks before your wedding

DO:  Use a false lash glue such a Duo.  Once the glue is applied to the lash, wait approximately 30 seconds before applying the false lash to your upper lash line.  Be sure the glue is tacky before applying or it won’t adhere properly

DON’T:  Forget to wear waterproof mascara!  Nothing could be worse than black mascara running down your face on your wedding day!
DO:  Hire a professional makeup artist to give you that perfect bridal look!
