I work with a lot of Chinese brides every year and their weddings are always big events! Lots going on all day long! It’s not uncommon for me to get hired for the entire day to be with the bride and her bridal party, giving the bride new looks throughout the day, being on site for photo taking and making sure everyone looks gorgeous at all times. Trust me…it’s a day’s work for sure! 🙂 A traditional Chinese wedding is quite the event to say the least and I love all the pomp and circumstance involved with them. I mean, seriously….who doesn’t love the idea of having 2 or 3 gorgeous gowns to change into throughout the big day? Doing makeup and hair on Chinese brides can be quite different than working with Caucasian brides but when it’s done right, there isn’t anything more beautiful in my opinion. Lots of Chinese brides wish for larger eyes and opt to use eye crease tape to give the effect of an eye crease. I’ve worked with this tape before but to be honest, I’m always a little sad when a bride wants to go this way because I love the shape of Chinese eyes. I actually think they are gorgeous without any eye tape! As an artist, it’s very important to match Chinese skin well and add the right colour eye makeup and blush to enhance their beauty. I find many of my Chinese brides look best with pastel colours such as pinks and mauves but I’ve also done my share of soft smokey eyes using greys for those brides looking for a sexier evening look. Today’s post is all about Chinese wedding makeup ideas and inspiration. Enjoy! xo
